Community Relief Efforts Implemented Across Affected Mississippi Areas

In response to recent winter weather conditions across parts of Mississippi, multiple coordinated relief efforts were carried out by local agencies, utilities, and community partners to support affected residents.

In Ashland, the Ashland Fire Station served as a central relief location. The National Guard was deployed at the station to assist with emergency response and community support operations. Residents were able to obtain drinking water and blankets from the Ashland Fire Department, and free chili was distributed at 2:00 p.m. on January 30 to help provide warm meals during the cold weather.

Additional support services were made available in Snow Lake, where hot showers and temporary shelter were provided at the Snow Lake Fire Station for residents impacted by power and heating disruptions.

Utility restoration efforts were also conducted in the area. The Southaven Utility Company worked in Snow Lake Shores to address service interruptions and stabilize utility access amid the winter conditions.

Fuel assistance was likewise made available. Thomas Gas confirmed that gas was available for residents who were able to travel to their Holly Springs location at 115 W. Van Dorn Ave.

Local officials noted that these combined efforts were aimed at meeting immediate needs, ensuring public safety, and providing essential resources as communities worked through the impacts of the winter.
